Companion & Equipment
Dragon: Elvireth
Female — gender principle (father male → dragon female, just as daughters female → dragons male). Majestic, ancient dragon sovereign. Over 5000 years old.
Story Role
- Imparts the knowledge of the bond (only he knows how to find/arrange dragons with a matching birthday + nature).
- Lost his wife roughly 300 years ago — she and her dragon were murdered simultaneously. Whoever was capable of that knew the bond's weak point.
Relationship with His Daughters
Protective + guilt-ridden. He isolated his daughters at the castle for centuries — officially as protection, emotionally as penance for Althaea's death (he blames himself). The daughters hold no grudge against him — they stand loyally by their father. The High Council does hold it against him (ban on investigating as sanction).
Ammetharion's Information Cage
Does he know who killed Althaea? NO. Not through incompetence — through the Council's political cage: a ban on investigating, hardly any helpers of his own, and he distrusts humans/dwarves as external sources. Covertly/in secret he does not get far. His self-reproach was planted by another (Morvaeth's work, subtly nurtured over 300+ years).
Does he know the truth about the elven guards? NO. Like everyone else, he knows only the desertion rumor (the guards were found as corpses far away → interpreted as deserters). His stonewalling on the topic of the mother is his information cage (the Council's ban on investigating), NOT personal shame over the guards.
“Isolation of absolute power” = emotional core: he has all the power except the power he needs.
First possible crack: a private conversation with the elf MC, if the MC discloses everything.
His self-reproach was planted by another — Morvaeth's work, subtly nurtured over 300+ years. Ammetharion bears no guilt of his own; the blame lies with the one who had the guards murdered and Althaea's death orchestrated.
